Tumblers Room

The Tumbler unit has many different areas available that provide lots of different play experiences. The whole room can be accessed by all of the children all of the time. The investigation area is set out for the children to discover different textures and materials. We also encourage the children to care for our pets, which promotes confidence and responsibility.

The story corner is an area that the children enjoy looking at stories or having some quiet time. There is a large table area that is used for puzzles, games, construction toys, small world, literacy and numeracy activities and much more.

We also have large floor activities such as large construction, road and rail and large floor puzzles. In the home corner there is opportunity for dressing up and different suggested role-play. We also have an area for drawing and writing using different types of paper and pens and pencils.

There is a computer available for the children to learn basic skills and play games on in the tumblers room and allows the children to practice mouse control and basic computer skills before starting school.

In the messy area we have water and sand, paints, playdough, cutting and sticking available all of the time for the children to make their own choices of what they want to do. Along side all of these activities we follow a topic and a main topic based activity, which takes place every day.

Each child has a Learning Journal, to monitor and track their progress.
